Evolutionary Lattices
As part of my research work at the Creative Machines Lab, I developed algorithms for “evolving'“ the shape and form of lattices. The initial version uses a basic hill climber algorithm to generate and test deformations to a lattice, evaluates success, and iterates. Results often look like organic forms optimized to their load conditions. The future of this project will use more complex evolutionary algorithms to subtly create new versions of structures.
